Jewish peoplehood may not be easy to define but one important component is culture. Schniede argues that Sacha Baron Cohen’s hit movie, “Borat” is not the crude mocking of Jews and others that it appears to be. Rather it is an assertion of Jewish hipster identity “that responds to the complexity of the times that we live in with Jewish literacy and aplomb.”
